The Yankees released Downs on Tuesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. After being granted his release, Downs is set to leave affiliated ball and will sign a contract with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball. The 26-year-old had spent the entire 2024 season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, with whom he slashed .264/.360/.498 with 10 home runs and 15 stolen bases over 69 contests.
