Ivey was designated for assignment by the Astros on Thursday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports. The Astros optioned Ivey to Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. Ivey (elbow) allowed three runs (zero earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out two over 1.2 innings for Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday. This was Ivey's second rehab appearance, eight days after he threw in a Gulf Coast League game. The right-hander is currently on the 60-day injured list and does not figure to be part of Houston's postseason roster.

Ivey (elbow) began a rehab assignment for the Astros' FCL affiliate Saturday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports. Ivey made his major-league debut in late May but has been shut down with a nerve issue in his elbow ever since that appearance. He's unlikely to be fully built up by the end of the season, but it's certainly a positive that he's able to pitch in some capacity.
