  • The Tigers optioned Madris to Triple-A Toledo following Friday's contest against the Yankees, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Madris was called up to the big club July 21. He had a strong start in the majors, but over his last 10 outings he's gone 5-for-33 with two RBI and a 27.8 percent strikeout rate. The move makes room on the Tigers' 26-man roster for the recall of Spencer Torkelson.

  • Tigers' Bligh Madris: Continues strong play
    By RotoWire

Madris went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 15-1 win over the Mariners. Madris was ostensibly seen as a depth piece when he was called up from Triple-A Toledo in late July, but he's forced his way into regular playing time. The 28-year-old is batting .304 with five RBI and eight runs scored in 18 games for the Tigers. Madris may not be in the team's long-term plans, but he should continue to see the field plenty in the short term.

Madris isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Friday's game against the Giants. Madris will get a breather during Friday's series opener with left-hander Robbie Ray slated to take the mound for San Francisco. Andy Ibanez will step in to cover first base and bat leadoff.

  • Madris will start at first base and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Guardians. He'll be included in the lineup for a fifth straight contest after going 6-for-14 with a double, a walk, two runs and an RBI over the prior four games. The Tigers may not have an everyday role available for Madris once the likes of Parker Meadows (hamstring) and Riley Greene (hamstring) return from the 10-day injured list, though Detroit could find ways to get Madris' bat in the lineup so long as he's running hot at the dish.

  • Madris went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 9-3 loss to the Twins. A day after collecting three hits, Madris had two more and recorded his first RBI at the MLB level since 2022. The 28-year-old is likely still just a depth option for the Tigers at best, but he could carve out a more consistent role in the short term if he continues to produce at the plate.
