    By RotoWire

The Tigers optioned Madris to Triple-A Toledo following Friday's contest against the Yankees, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Madris was called up to the big club July 21. He had a strong start in the majors, but over his last 10 outings he's gone 5-for-33 with two RBI and a 27.8 percent strikeout rate. The move makes room on the Tigers' 26-man roster for the recall of Spencer Torkelson.

Madris went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 15-1 win over the Mariners. Madris was ostensibly seen as a depth piece when he was called up from Triple-A Toledo in late July, but he's forced his way into regular playing time. The 28-year-old is batting .304 with five RBI and eight runs scored in 18 games for the Tigers. Madris may not be in the team's long-term plans, but he should continue to see the field plenty in the short term.
