  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Resumes mound work
    By RotoWire

Nardi (back) has begun throwing off a mound, MLB.com reports. The southpaw reliever has yet to pitch in 2025 due to lower-back inflammation that cropped up in spring training, but he began a throwing progression in mid-June and has now graduated to mound work. It's not clear exactly what that entails or when he might be ready to face live batters, or even if he's done so already, but a return to the Marlins' bullpen some time in August could be feasible.

  • Nardi (back) began a throwing program Monday, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports. He'll likely gradually increase his throwing distance off flat ground over the next week or two before moving on to mound work. Nardi was shut down in early March due to lower back inflammation and was placed on the 60-day injured list, so he won't be eligible to make his 2025 debut with the Marlins until at least late May.

  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Placed on 60-day IL
    By RotoWire

The Marlins placed Nardi on the 60-day injured list Saturday with lower-back inflammation. A setback in Nardi's recovery from a lower-back injury has kept him shut down from throwing since March 5. His status for Opening Day had been in question, but moving to the 60-day IL will ensure he remains out until at least late May. His roster spot will be filled by Seth Martinez, who was claimed off waivers from the Mariners on Saturday.

  • Marlins' Andrew Nardi: Plays catch Monday
    By RotoWire

Nardi (back) played catch Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Recovering from a lower-back injury, Nardi has a rest day Tuesday and then will play catch again Wednesday if he feels up to it. The left-hander should have time to get ready for Opening Day if he progresses well from here on out, but it doesn't seem as though he's particularly close to pitching in a game.

  • Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Friday that Nardi (elbow) will be behind at the start of spring training after something flared up over the offseason, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. McCullough didn't disclose the nature of the injury, but it's probably safe to assume it's related to the left elbow injury that caused Nardi to miss the final five-plus weeks of the 2024 season. The skipper noted that the team is still waiting for further clarity on the severity of Nardi's injury. If healthy, Nardi could be in the mix for saves in 2025. He held a 5.07 ERA but a 70:18 K:BB over 49.2 innings last season.
