  • The Yankees selected Jones' contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. Jones totaled 35 home runs and 29 steals with a .933 OPS between Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Somerset last year, though that was accompanied by a 35.3 percent strikeout rate. The 24-year-old is one of the organization's top prospects and could make his MLB debut in 2026, but he may have a difficult time cracking the lineup depending on how the Yankees' offseason unfolds.

  • Jones (back) started in right field and went 2-for-4 with a double and a run in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's 7-3 loss to Nashville on Tuesday. Jones was out of action for four days due to back spasms but didn't miss a beat in his return to the lineup, contributing his 19th extra-base hit in 20 games with the Triple-A club. With a 1.399 OPS since receiving a promotion to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre from Double-A Somerset on June 27, Jones is making a compelling case for a big-league call-up, but the Yankees don't have an obvious spot for him in their crowded outfield, even while Aaron Judge (elbow) is on the injured list.

  • Jones (back) is not in the starting lineup for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, Jack Curry of YES Network reports. Jones won't be in Friday's lineup but could be back Saturday depending on how his back feels. The 24-year-old prospect was bumped up to Triple-A in late June and has raced out to a strong start with a 1.407 OPS with six steals, 13 home runs and 25 RBI in 94 plate appearances.

  • Jones went 3-for-5 with three home runs and four RBI for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday. Jones mashed homers in the first, third and fifth innings to continue a recent power surge. He's gone deep 10 times in his past 12 contests and has posted an absurd 1.407 OPS with 13 home runs, 25 RBI and six stolen bases over 19 contests since being promoted to Triple-A on June 27. Jones has also struck out 24 times during that span, but that's an improvement over the 33.7 percent K rate he posted in Double-A prior to his promotion. If Jones keeps mashing, he could get his first taste of the big leagues before the end of the campaign, though he could also draw interest in trade talks leading up to the deadline.

  • Jones went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's 4-2 win over Worcester on Friday. Jones was promoted to Triple-A before Friday's contest, and it didn't take long for him to make an impact, as he smacked a solo homer to center field in his first plate appearance. He did strike out in two of his other plate appearances, and that is an area the 24-year-old prospect will need to work on as he shifts his focus toward a promotion to the majors.
