  • Mets' Nate Fisher: Clears waivers
    By RotoWire

Fisher was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. He'll remain in the Mets organization after being moved off the 40-man roster Monday, just one day after making his MLB debut. The 26-year-old lefty was sharp while working in long relief during Sunday's 10-9 win over the Phillies, striking out a batter over three scoreless frames.

  • Fisher was designated for assignment Monday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Fisher threw three scoreless innings in his big-league debut Sunday, but that was not enough for him to retain a spot on both the Mets' active and 40-man rosters. Should Fisher go unclaimed on waivers he could remain in the organization, however.

  • Fisher made his MLB debut Sunday, pitching three scoreless innings in relief against the Phillies. He allowed one hit and two walks while striking out one. While there isn't much to take away from this fantasy-wise, it was a remarkable performance for Fisher and the Mets. The 26-year-old lefty kept the Mets in the game after they'd fallen behind for a second time, and he did so despite the fact that he had been out of baseball entirely and working a finance job in Omaha just last year. Fisher's stay in the majors may not be a long one, though, as he's put up poor numbers in Triple-A (1.45 WHIP, 6.4 K/9, 4.2 BB/9) this season and wasn't exactly dominant Sunday despite the positive outcome.

  • Fisher had his contract selected by the Mets on Sunday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Fisher has pitched in both Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse this season, covering a total of 72 innings as a starter and reliever. He maintained a 3.38 ERA and a 71:31 K:BB and will now be set for his big-league debut. Fisher will occupy a low-leverage role.
