Atlanta claimed Salinas (shoulder) off waivers from the Athletics on Friday. Salinas was part of the package of prospects sent by Atlanta to Oakland in the Sean Murphy trade ahead of the 2023 season. He's now back in his original organization, although Salinas is expected to miss a large chunk of the 2025 campaign after having right shoulder surgery in July. The 23-year-old posted a 4.60 ERA and 50:34 K:BB over 43 innings between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Las Vegas in 2024.

Triple-A Las Vegas placed Salinas on its full-season injured list after he underwent surgery on his right shoulder July 24, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Salinas hadn't pitched since May 30 before landing on Las Vegas' 7-day IL with the shoulder injury. He presumably tried the rest-and-rehab route to treat the injury, but after making limited progress over the ensuing two months, he ended up being sent in for surgery. Salinas will miss the rest of the season, and his availability for the 2025 campaign could be in jeopardy as well.

Triple-A Las Vegas placed Salinas on its 7-day injured list June 2 with an unspecified injury. Salinas was deactivated just three days after he was roughed up for four earned runs on three hits and five walks over 2.1 innings in his return to the Pacific Coast League after he had made his prior three starts with Double-A Midland. The 23-year-old righty owns a 4.60 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 50:34 K:BB in 43 innings overall between Las Vegas and Midland this season.

Salinas was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday. Salinas was able to appear in two contests with Oakland this spring, tossing four scoreless frames, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out five batters. He'll look to impress with the Aviators in order to earn another opportunity with the Athletics down the road.
