• Diamondbacks' Nick Heath: Outrighted to Triple-A

  Heath cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports. Heath was designated for assignment Saturday but will remain in the organization going forward. He's hit .143 with three runs and an RBI in 35 at-bats with the major-league club but has slashed .289/.385/.434 with two homers, 14 runs, 11 RBI and seven stolen bases across 19 Triple-A contests this year.

  Heath was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Heath has played a minor role at the big-league level this season and hit just .143/.231/.171 in 39 trips to the plate. He was removed from the active roster on Tuesday and will now leave the 40-man roster as well.

  Heath was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. Heath made just one start after he was recalled in late June, and he went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts during his time in the majors. He should see more consistent playing time at Triple-A Reno, while outfielder Stuart Fairchild was recalled by the Diamondbacks in a corresponding move.

  Heath entered Thursday's win over the Giants as a defensive replacement in center field. Heath has had just one pinch-hit at-bat and four appearances as a defensive replacement since being recalled June 23. After Arizona traded Tim Locastro to the Yankees on Thursday, Heath moved up the depth chart and could get the occasional start in center field while Ketel Marte (hamstring) remains sidelined. Pavin Smith is the primary fill-in for Marte, but Locastro made a couple of starts in center this past week, so it's logical Heath could see more opportunities at the dish. Heath is batting .156/.250/.188 over 36 plate appearances for the Diamondbacks.

  Heath was recalled by the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Heath appeared in 13 games for Arizona earlier in the year and hit .161 with three runs and an RBI. He's been more successful with Triple-A Reno, as he's slashed .297/.386/.446 with two homers, 14 runs, 11 RBI and seven stolen bases across 18 contests with the Aces. The 27-year-old isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Brewers, and he should serve mainly as a depth option going forward. Right-hander Stefan Crichton was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
