The Reds optioned Richardson to Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday. Richardson got some work out of the bullpen in Tuesday's win over the Cubs, allowing two runs while retiring two batters. The right-hander will rejoin the rotation at Louisville.

The Reds recalled Richardson from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Richardson was recalled ahead of Tuesday's game against Atlanta before being optioned to Triple-A after the contest was postponed. However, he never actually left the club and now will be temporarily added back to the active roster as the 27th man for Wednesday's doubleheader in Atlanta. Richardson is a good bet to eat some innings after Nick Martinez in the second game of the twin bill before the Reds send him back to Louisville.

However, Tuesday's contest was postponed due to rain, so Richardson will now head back to the minors without appearing in a game. The 24-year-old owns a 4.29 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 77.2 innings in Triple-A and could still be an option to make a spot start in the majors later in the year.

He spent the end of 2023 in the minors after posting an 8.64 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 12:15 K:BB over 16.2 innings with the Reds. Richardson will start 2024 in Louisville and will attempt to work his way back into Cincinnati's rotation.

Richardson was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday. The 23-year-old started for the past few turns through Cincinnati's rotation, but he'll head back to Triple-A after he posted a 7.90 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 10:12 K:BB across 13.2 innings. Richardson should return to the rotation at Louisville, where he has a 3.60 ERA in three starts.
