  • Reds president of baseball operations Nick Krall said Tuesday that India had surgery to "clean up" his ankle after the season ended, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. India's procedure is considered a minor one that will allow him to have a normal offseason and be ready for spring training. Nonetheless, the Reds have a number of underlying issues in the infield heading into 2025, including where to deploy India upon the return of Matt McLain, who missed the entire 2024 season after undergoing shoulder surgery and then suffering a stress reaction to his rib cage.

  • India (head) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians. India was lifted from Tuesday's 6-1 loss after being hit in the helmet by a pitch a couple innings after his final plate appearance of the night and is being evaluated under the concussion protocol. The Reds haven't confirmed that India has been diagnosed with a concussion, so while he'll step out of the lineup Wednesday, he can be considered day-to-day heading into the club's season-ending series with the Cubs this weekend. Santiago Espinal will check in for India at second base in the series finale in Cleveland.
