The Angels signed Ynoa to a minor-league contract Thursday, Taylor Blake Ward of The Sporting Tribune reports. Ynoa spent much of the 2025 season pitching in the Mexican League following a brief stint in the Twins organization at Triple-A St. Paul, where he allowing eight runs (five earned) over 4.1 innings. The 27-year-old hasn't pitched in the big league since 2022 and has struggled with elbow and shoulder woes since then.

Ynoa signed a contract with the Leones De Yucatan of the Mexican League on Monday. Ynoa was cut loose by the Twins in April after allowing five earned runs in 4.1 innings at Triple-A St. Paul. The 26-year-old will now continue his playing career south of the border and could get looks from MLB organizations again if his time in Mexico goes well.

Ynoa was released by Minnesota on Saturday, Brandon Warne of Locked on Twins reports. Ynoa made 31 appearances (24 starts) in the majors for Atlanta from 2019 through 2022, but he hasn't seen big-league action since while missing extensive time due to Tommy John surgery and a shoulder injury. He threw just seven innings in the minors in 2024. He'd given up five runs with seven walks and one strikeout in 4.1 innings at Triple-A St. Paul before his release.

The Twins reassigned Ynoa to minor-league camp Tuesday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Ynoa made 31 appearances (24 starts) in the majors for Atlanta from 2019 through 2022, but he hasn't seen big-league action since while missing extensive time due to Tommy John surgery and a shoulder injury. The 26-year-old righty linked up with the Twins on a minor-league deal in December and has enjoyed good health in the spring, but his mediocre numbers in the Grapefruit League (5.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 4:2 K:BB in 4.2 innings) prevented him from making a serious run at an Opening Day roster spot. Ynoa worked one inning or less in each of his five spring appearances, perhaps signaling that the Twins intend to deploy him out of the bullpen at Triple-A St. Paul after he had mostly been used as a starter during his time in the Atlanta organization.

Ynoa retired both batters he faced Monday and has thrown 2.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts and a walk this spring. Ynoa missed the 2023 season after Tommy John surgery and then missed considerable time in 2024 while tending to elbow inflammation and a shoulder injury. He did finish last year healthy, however, as he was able to make six rehab appearances at Triple-A in September. He'll likely be moved to a relief role at Triple-A St. Paul to begin the season.
