Ynoa has signed a minor-league contract with Minnesota, Stephanie Apstein of Sports Illustrated reports. After missing the 2023 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Ynoa opened the 2024 campaign at full health and occupied a spot in Triple-A Gwinnett's rotation, only to be shut down in mid-April with elbow inflammation before he hurt his shoulder in August during a rehab assignment. Ynoa was signed out of the Dominican Republic by the Twins at age 16, so he returns to a familiar franchise. He could be a nice depth piece for the Twins if he can return to full health this spring.

Ynoa (elbow/shoulder) was non-tendered by Atlanta on Friday. Ynoa has battled arm injuries for much of the last two seasons, posting only a combined 29.2 innings across all professional levels. He's expected to be healthy for the start of the 2025 campaign, so a team may be willing to give him a chance during spring training.

Ynoa (elbow/shoulder) will resume a rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday. He's been cleared for game action again and will hope to ramp back up in time to rejoin Gwinnett before the International League season ends. Ynoa is currently on Atlanta's 60-day injured list, but he'll almost certainly get optioned to Gwinnett once he completes his rehab assignment.

Atlanta returned Ynoa (elbow) from his minor-league rehab assignment Saturday due to right shoulder tightness, Lindsay Crosby of AthlonSports.com reports. Ynoa underwent Tommy John surgery in September of 2022 and pitched during spring training before starting the season at Triple-A Gwinnett. However, he was moved back on the injured list with elbow inflammation in late April and had completed five rehab outings before being returned Saturday with a shoulder injury. It's unclear how severe the setback will be, but Ynoa had thrown at least three innings in three consecutive minor-league outings and seemed close to being activated. In those three appearances, Ynoa allowed just one run with eight strikeouts across 9.2 innings .

Ynoa (elbow) struck out two batters and gave up one hit and one walk over three scoreless innings Sunday in his rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett. Atlanta moved Ynoa's rehab assignment to its top affiliate after the right-hander made two- and 1.1-inning starts in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on July 16 and 22, respectively. Ynoa will likely need another start or two before he gets fully stretched out. With Reynaldo Lopez (forearm) leaving Sunday's start early and Max Fried (forearm) still lacking a firm return date, Ynoa could be needed in the big-league rotation.
