Jung is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners. Jung started the first 13 games of September and will receive Sunday off after he began the month with three homers and an .881 OPS. Ezequiel Duran will shift to the hot corner while Carson Kelly receives a start at designated hitter.

Jung went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 5-4 win over Seattle. Jung launched his seventh homer and first in eight games in the second inning to give Texas an early lead. Since returning from a thumb injury that cost him nearly four months, Jung is slashing .260/.288/.390 with five home runs, nine RBI, three steals and 13 runs scored over 38 games.

Jung went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional RBI, a stolen base and a hit-by-pitch in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Yankees. Jung opened the scoring with a fourth-inning homer and contributed to the Rangers' comeback push with an RBI single in the eighth. The third baseman has gone 13-for-40 (.325) with two homers and three steals over his last 10 contests. That productive stretch has him up to a .276/.295/.455 slash line with six homers, four steals, 14 RBI and 16 runs scored through 34 games overall.

Jung is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the A's. Josh Smith will start at third base and bat third against right-hander Joey Estes. Jung has hit safely in six of his last seven games and he swiped two bags Thursday, but the 26-year-old is still slashing just .229/.234/.314 with two homers in 27 games since returning from right wrist surgery.

Jung went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Twins. Jung put the Rangers ahead for the first time with a seventh-inning solo shot. That lead didn't hold, but he added a single in the 10th inning that forced an error and led to the winning run scoring. Jung has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, going 11-for-43 (.256) in that span, though his homer was his first since Aug. 4. The third baseman is slashing .274/.295/.476 with four homers, nine RBI, eight runs scored, three doubles, a triple and one stolen base over 21 contests this season.
