Blake DeWitt placed on the DL
The Atlanta Braves moved backup second baseman Blake DeWitt to the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a lower back strain. DeWitt has appeared as a reserve in just four games this season, posting a .333 batting average with one extra-base hit.

Braves summon Blake DeWitt from minors
The Atlanta Braves announced Sunday morning first baseman Freddie Freeman was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique. The Braves purchased the contract of Blake DeWitt to take Freeman's spot on the roster. DeWitt was assigned to the minors after batting .244 (10 for 41) with six doubles and six RBI in 26 spring games. He is a career .257 hitter in 422 MLB games.

Braves assign Blake DeWitt and Jordan Parraz to minors
The Atlanta Braves assigned infielder Blake DeWitt and outfielder Jordan Parraz to minor-league camp. A five-year veteran, DeWitt spent most of last season in the Cubs’ minor-league system. Parrez, 28, has yet to make his major-league debut. He hit .273/.353/.370 over three levels last season.
