Nationals' John Lannan: Inks minor league contract with Nationals
John Lannan agreed to a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.He pitched with Washington from 2007-12 and was its Opening Day starter in 2009 and 2010, but he likely won't get another chance to pitch for the Nats anytime soon. The deal doesn't include an invite to big league camp and Lannan hasn't pitched in the majors since 2014, so it seems this is strictly an organizational depth signing.

John Lannan gave up two earned runs over five innings while allowing three hits, three walks, and striking out three in Triple-A Omaha's win over New Orleans on Friday.Lannan posted a posting a 4.69 ERA and struck out six over 7.2 innings this spring. The 31-year-old left hander spent plenty of time in the majors early in his career, including a 206.1-inning season with Washington in 2009. Given his extended time playing in the majors, he is likely to be a leading candidate to receive a promotion to the majors if one of the Kansas City Royals' rotation members goes down with an injury.

John Lannan signed a minor-league contract with the Kansas City Royals, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports.Lannan has 148 big-league starts to his name, but none of those have come since 2013, and he spent all of last season with Triple-A Albuquerque in the Rockies organization. After posting a 5.39 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 4.9 K/9 for Albuquerque, the 31-year-old lefty will be a long shot to make the Royals' major-league squad out of spring training.
