San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Tim Hudson (8-9) pitched just 2 1/3 innings Thursday, allowing three runs on three hits and a pair of walks against the Los Angeles Dodgers.The 40-year-old was expected to be on a short leash, and indeed that was the case, as he ended up throwing just 45 pitches. Considering the severe decline Hudson's gone through this year -- including his worst full-season ERA and WHIP since 2006 -- as well as the fact that his contract is up, this might well have been the final game of his MLB career.

San Francisco Giants starter Tim Hudson lasted just 1 1/3 innings Saturday, allowing three runs (two earned) on one hit and three walks without striking out a batter. He just couldn't find the strike zone in the second inning, and his nostalgic matchup against the A's and Barry Zito fizzled when the Oakland left-hander couldn't record an out in the third. Hudson is scheduled for one more start this season, at home against the Dodgers on Thursday.

San Francisco Giants right-hander Tim Hudson could be nearing his return from the disabled list. Hudson has been on the DL for a month while dealing with a right shoulder strain.
