    Orioles promote Ramon Ramirez to major-league team

    The Baltimore Orioles selected the contract of pitcher Ramon Ramirez Monday. Ramirez struck out 14 and walked one in eight scoreless innings with Triple-A Norfolk after signing a deal at the end of May. He also surrendered five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings with Triple-A Tacoma earlier in the season.

    Ramon Ramirez dealing with visa issues

    Seattle Mariners pitcher Ramon Ramirez is dealing with visa issues and has yet to report to camp, MLB.com reports. Ramirez was signed by the Mariners in early July after spending 2013 in the San Francisco and Tampa Bay organizations. He didn't appear in a game with the Rays after being released by the Giants, with whom he allowd seven earned runs over 5 2/3 innings across six appearances. He made 27 appearances in the minors last season (26 at Triple-A, one at high Class A), going 3-1 with a 3.31 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings.

    Mariners sign three to minor-league deals

    The Seattle Mariners announced Thursday they signed outfielder Cole Gillespie, pitcher Matt Palmer and pitcher Ramon Ramirez to minor-league contracts. All three players received invites to spring training.

    Ramon Ramirez clears waveirs, becomes free agent

    The San Francisco Giants announced Thursday that pitcher Ramon Ramirez has cleared waivers and has become a free agent. Ramirez gave up eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits and five walks in 5 2/3 innings without recording a strikeout before the release.

    Giants make handful of roster moves

    The San Francisco Giants made a handful of roster moves Thursday, recalling catcher Hector Sanchez and reliever Jake Dunning, designating reliever Ramon Ramirez and optioning first baseman Brett Pill.  Sanchez was hitting .320 in Triple-A and Dunning had a 1.75 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 36 Triple-A innings.  Ramirez pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Giants out of relief, giving up seven earned runs. Pill hit .148 in 27 at-bats for San Francisco, with a home run and two doubles.

    Ramon Ramirez gets the call

    The San Francisco Giants purchased the contract of reliever Ramon Ramirez from Triple-A Fresno Wednesday, sending down pitcher Michael Kickham to make room on the active roster. A 40-man roster move is expected to come later. Ramirez last appeared in the majors with the Mets last season, posting a 4.24 ERA in 58 games. He was 2-1 with a 3.46 ERA at Fresno prior to the call up.

    Giants re-sign Ramon Ramirez to minor-league contract

    The San Francisco Giants have re-signed pitcher Ramon Ramirez to a minor-league contract. He will begin the season at Triple-A Fresno. Ramirez was released by the Giants March 22 after allowing 10 earned runs in eight innings this spring. The 31-year-old right-hander will serve as bullpen depth in the minors.
