Yankees pitcher Hiroki Kuroda to return to Japan
New York Yankees pitcher Hiroki Kuroda will return to pitch in Japan next season, confirms CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman. A Hiroshima newspaper was the first to have the report. The 39-year-old Kuroda spent seven seasons in the United States. He posted a career 3.45 ERA over 1319 innings. After spending the first four seasons of his career with the Dodgers, Kuroda joined the Yankees. He remained with the organization for three seasons, but made sure his contract went year-to-year so that he could return to Japan when ready. Kuroda plans to continue his baseball career in Japan, and will pitch for the Hiroshima Carp next year.

The New York Yankees have yet to be informed of pitcher Hiroki Kuroda's plans for next year, according to the New York Times. A Hiroshima newspaper reported Kuroda will return to Japan next season, ending a seven-year run in the United States. The 39-year-old posted a 3.71 ERA over 199 innings with New York last season. Kuroda had signed one-year deals the past couple of offseasons so that he could return to Japan when ready.

Kuroda, 39, is undecided about his playing future. He has been with the Yankees since 2012, and posted a 3.44 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 620 innings of work.

Hiroki Kuroda fans nine in final start
New York Yankees pitcher Hiroki Kuroda struck out nine and went eight innings strong in his final start of the season on Thursday at home against Baltimore. Kuroda allowed home runs to Nick Markakis and Alejandro De Aza in the opening frame before settling down. He permitted two runs on three hits and no walks in a 6-5 victory. Of his 95 pitches, 68 were strikes. Over his final three starts of the season covering 21 2/3 innings, Kuroda allowed five earned runs. He finishes his 2014 campaign 11-9 with a 3.71 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP over 32 starts (199 innings).

Hiroki Kuroda picks up the win Friday
New York Yankees pitcher Hiroki Kuroda turned in a strong start Friday against the Blue Jays. Kuroda allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and did not issue any walks during the outing. Kuroda got himself in trouble during the first inning. After a leadoff double, Kuroda gave up a two-run blast against Edwin Encarnacion. He would settle in over the next three innings, but allowed another run in the fifth. After a throwing error put a runner on third, Kuroda gave up a run-scoring groundout. Since the run scored due to the error, it was unearned. With the win, Kuroda improved to 11-9. He’ll take on the Orioles in his next start.

Hiroki Kuroda chased in fourth inning of loss vs. Rays
New York Yankees pitcher Hiroki Kuroda took a loss Tuesday, allowing four earned runs on nine hits in just 3 1/3 innings while striking out five in his team's 4-3 defeat against the Rays. Kuroda (10-9) surrendered a solo home run in the second inning, and the Rays were able to push two more runs across in the third. The starter was removed after a third straight single with one out brought a run home in the fourth inning. Kuroda owns a 3.91 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 125:35 K:BB ratio in 177 1/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Orioles Sunday.
