    The Kansas City Royals have attended workouts of relievers Phil Coke and Alfredo Aceves recently, according to the Kansas City Star. Kansas City is still in the market to add depth at the back of the pen. Coke, 32, posted a 3.88 ERA over 58 innings with Detroit last year. Aceves put up a 6.52 ERA in 19 1/3 innings with the Yankees.

    Report: Alfredo Aceves scheduled to throw for scouts Wednesday

    Free-agent relief pitcher Alfredo Aceves is scheduled to throw in front of scouts Wednesday afternoon at the University of Arizona, MLB.com reports. The San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds are among the teams that are expected to attend the throwing session. Aceves made just 10 appearances with the Yankees last season, posting a 6.52 ERA and 16:4 K:BB ratio in 19 1/3 innings before being released in August. He owns a career 3.83 ERA in 380 1/3 innings.

    The New York Yankees made several moves with their pitching staff Wednesday. They added Wade LeBlanc and Jose Ramirez to their active roster, designated Alfredo Aceves for assignment and demoted Preston Claiborne to Triple-A. The most intriguing move is that regarding Ramirez, who has been impressive at Scranton-Wilkes Barre. He has given up just one run in 10 2/3 innings with 13 strikeouts. He has shown the ability to pitch out of jams, having allowed 12 hits and six walks.

    New York Yankees pitcher Alfredo Aceves picked up his first win of the season Monday after tossing two scoreless innings in his team's 6-4, 12-inning win over the Cardinals.
