Indians' Wily Mo Pena: Signs minor league deal with Indians

Wily Mo Pena agreed to a minor league deal with the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.Pena last appeared in the MLB in 2011 and has more recently spent his 2012 through 2015 seasons in the Japan Pacific League. At 35 years old, Pena will desperately need to regain his early-career form if he hopes to find his way on to the Indians' major league roster.

Report: Twins among six teams showing interest in Wily Mo Pena

Veteran outfielder Wily Mo Pena is drawing interest from six teams from MLB and Japan, which includes the Minnesota Twins, a source told MLBDailyDish.com. The 32-year-old slugger has spent the last three seasons playing in Japan. He hit .255 with 20 doubles, 32 home runs and 90 RBI in 140 games last season for Orix. Pena last played in the majors in 2011. In his eight-year MLB career, he played for the Reds, Nationals, Red Sox, Diamondbacks and Mariners. He hit .250 with 84 home runs and 240 RBI in 599 games. He also had 559 strikeouts.

Pena heads to Japan

Veteran OF/DH Wily Mo Pena signed a two-year contract with the Softbank Hawks in Japan on Friday, according to SI.com. Pena recorded seven homers and a .204 batting average while playing between Arizona and Seattle last season.
