Ike Davis: Announces retirement
Ike Davis officially retired from baseball Tuesday, Ken Davidoff of the New York Post reports.Davis last played in the majors in 2016. Over parts of seven seasons spent with the Mets, Pirates, Athletics and Yankees, the first baseman hit .239/.332/.414 with 81 homers. Still just 31 years old, Davis had attempted a transition to the mound in the Arizona League in 2017 but was ultimately unable to work his way back to the big leagues.

Dodgers' Ike Davis: Transitioning to mound duties
Ike Davis has transitioned from first base to pitching and has made three appearances for the Los Angeles Dodgers' rookie-level Arizona League affiliate, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports. He's tossed 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and three walks while striking out five batters. The Mets looked like they had a long-term solution at first base after Davis crushed 32 home runs for New York as a 25-year-old in 2012, but a subsequent downturn in his power production coupled with injuries and an inability to solve left-handed pitching ultimately stunted his development. After bouncing around six different organizations the last four seasons and showing little improvement with his hitting with the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate at Oklahoma City in 2017, the now-30-year-old Davis decided to try his hand at pitching again after having previously served as a closer for Arizona State during his amateur career. The early returns from the mound have been encouraging for Davis, who has pitching in his bloodlines -- his father, Ron, was a reliever for 11 years in the big leagues. The lefty still has a long way to go before surfacing again in the majors, but given his existing familiarity with pitching from his college days, Davis' learning curve may be shorter than what most position-players-turned-pitchers experience.

Dodgers' Ike Davis: Signs minor league deal with Dodgers
Ike Davis signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. He will be invited to major league spring training. The former Met has bounced around, getting stints with the Pirates, A's, and Yankees in the last three years. He played just eight games with the Yankees last season, collecting three hits and five strikeouts in 14 at-bats. Given that the Dodgers have Adrian Gonzalez and a handful of viable fill-ins at first base on the active roster, including top prospect Cody Bellinger, Davis appears destined to stick in the minors for much or all of the 2017 season.

Ike Davis: Released by Yankees
Ike Davis was released by the Yankees on Wednesday, Brendan Kuty of NJ Advance Media reports.Over the last 10 days, Davis had gone just 5-for-32 with 12 strikeouts at Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre, bringing his batting average down to .248 for the season. At 29 years old and with a career MLB batting average of .239, Davis doesn't offer much upside to any team. If he's signed, it's likely that he'll simply provide additional depth at first base in the minor leagues.

Yankees' Ike Davis: Not starting again Wednesday
Ike Davis is not in the lineup Wednesday for the second day in a row.Davis started at first base four times in a five-game stretch last week, but it appears the New York Yankees have turned back to Rob Refsnyder at first base, as he will start Wednesday for the second day in a row. Neither player figures to see much action when Mark Teixeira returns to action in the near future, but one of them will likely slot in as Teixeira's backup.

Yankees' Ike Davis: Out of lineup Tuesday
Ike Davis is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rockies.Davis had been locked into a strict platoon at first base with Rob Refsnyder after signing with the New York Yankees, but he'll head to the bench Tuesday despite the right-handed Chad Bettis being scheduled to pitch for Colorado. The 29-year-old has hit just .214 with his new club and may be at risk of seeing a further drop in playing time -- or losing his roster spot completely -- with Mark Teixeira slated to return from the DL on Saturday.

Yankees' Ike Davis: Inks deal with Yankees
Ike Davis has signed a Major League deal with the New York Yankees, MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman reports.Davis was released from his minor-league deal with the Rangers on Sunday, and it didn't take long for the power-hitting first baseman to find a new home. The 29-year-old owned a .351 wOBA through 39 games at Triple-A Round Rock this year, and will provide New York with much-needed corner infield depth. Look for a corresponding roster move to be announced in the near future.
