Blake Parker: Heads to open market

The Cardinals released Blake Parker from his minor-league contract Thursday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.A veteran of 350 career MLB appearances, Parker attended big-league spring training with the Cardinals as a non-roster invitee, but he was unable to secure a spot in the Opening Day bullpen. The 37-year-old did little to make a case for a promotion during his time at Triple-A Memphis this season, turning in a 6.59 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 27.1 innings. Given his age and poor performance at Triple-A thus far in 2022, Parker seems unlikely to resurface in the majors again.

Cardinals' Blake Parker: Reassigned to minor-league camp

Blake Parker was reassigned to minor-league spring training Friday.Parker joined the St. Louis Cardinals as a non-roster invitee Saturday, but he was unable to land a spot on the team's Opening Day roster. Although he'll report to Triple-A Memphis to begin the year, it wouldn't be surprising to see him join the major-league bullpen at some point in 2022.

Cardinals' Blake Parker: Gets opportunity with Cardinals

Blake Parker signed a minor-league contract with the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday that includes an invitation to spring training, John Denton of MLB.com reports.Parker was effective across 43.2 innings with Cleveland last season, as he maintained a 3.09 ERA with a 37:14 K:BB. With Alex Reyes (shoulder) out for the early portion of the season, the Cardinals could use additional depth in the bullpen. Given that, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Parker ultimately make the Opening Day roster with a strong spring showing.

Indians' Blake Parker: Shaky in scoreless inning

Blake Parker allowed two hits and struck out two in a scoreless inning during Sunday's 11-1 win over the Yankees. The veteran right-hander put runners on the corners in the eighth inning, but he struck out Anthony Rizzo and Aaron Judge to end the threat. Parker still allows a few too many baserunners, given his 1.26 WHIP, but he's been effective at limiting the damage to a 2.54 ERA in 39 innings. He's added a 31:13 K:BB with two wins and three holds in 42 appearances.

Indians' Blake Parker: Collects second win

Blake Parker (2-0) walked one and struck out one in one inning, earning the win Wednesday versus Kansas City.Cleveland utilized Bryan Shaw and Emmanuel Clase to keep the game tied at 3-3 prior to extra innings, where Parker delivered a scoreless 10th to put him in position to grab the victory. He's posted a 2.16 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB across 33.1 innings overall, emerging as an effective low-leverage option despite a 7.0 K/9 rate and 90.6 mph average velocity.

Indians' Blake Parker: Remains steady in August

Blake Parker has allowed two runs in 11 innings in August. The veteran right-hander continues to provide Cleveland with solid work in a mostly low-leverage role. Parker has lowered his ERA to 2.15 with a 1.16 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB across 29.1 innings this year. While he's picked up just one win and one hold, he's done well to keep the ball in the yard with only two home runs allowed. He's also worked a 3.40 FIP and .291 BABIP, both of which indicate he could regress slightly but not dramatically.
