Carlos Peguero: Contract sold to Golden Eagles of Japan
Carlos Peguero was sent to the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles on Friday for cash considerations. While Peguero more than held his own during his time with Triple-A Memphis (.283/.355/.435), it's clear he did not factor in the Cardinals' major league plans and there must not have been much interest from around the league. Peguero, who hit 30 homers in the minors in 2014, will look to increase his stock with the Golden Eagles and likely try to return stateside in 2017.

Cardinals' Carlos Peguero: Reassigned to minor league camp Thursday
Carlos Peguero was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday.Peguero was setting the world on fire during spring training, posting a 1.033 OPS with two home runs in 18 spring games. Unfortunately for the outfielder, there was simply no room for him on the Opening Day roster despite the hot spring. He'll head to the minors to provide organizational outfield depth, but he could find his way back to St. Louis if he continues to throttle upper-level pitching.

Cardinals' Carlos Peguero: Signs minor league contract with Cardinals on Friday
Carlos Peguero signed a minor league contract with the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday that included an invitation to spring training, Jennifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.Peguero spent 2015 split between the Rangers and Red Sox organization, being designated for assignment by both of them at some point during the year. He hasn't spent much time in the majors, but during his short times with Texas and Boston, he batted a combined .187. That being said, the outfielder relies more on his power numbers to provide value, which he did show by producing a .711 OPS with four home runs in the majors last season. The Cardinals' outfield is pretty well set, but Peguero could provide some pop off the bench if he manages to make the big league roster.
