Pirates' Eury Perez: Headed to Pittsburgh on NRI deal
Eury Perez agreed to a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. The 26-year-old speedster split time between the Triple-A affiliates of the Astros and Rays organizations, batting .256 with 20 stolen bases between the two stops. For a guy with as much speed as he possesses, Perez doesn't walk all that much, so until he starts to hit for a higher average, he'll continue to act as organizational outfield depth.

Braves' Eury Perez: Non-tendered by Braves
Eury Perez was non-tendered by the Atlanta Braves on Thursday. He suffered a broken hand in late August last season, but that is not the main reason the Braves declined to extend him a contract. In Atlanta's intensive rebuild, players like Perez who require arbitration offers and do not fit into their long-term plans have no place on the roster. He hit .269 but slugged just .303 in 133 plate appearances last year, and should struggle to gain fantasy relevance, regardless of what team he catches on with this winter.

Braves' Eury Perez OK after colliding with Cameron Maybin in outfield
Atlanta Braves outfielder Eury Perez checked out OK after colliding with Cameron Maybin in the outfield in the bottom of the ninth Sunday against the Pirates, per MLB.com. Maybin was fine after the collision, but Perez was down on the warning track for a few minutes holding his torso before leaving the game under his own power. However, Perez's stomach and ribs checked out without injury upon further evaluation. "I was a little nervous. I thought we were going to lose two players out there," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "We dodged a bullet there." Perez, who entered the game in left field in the eighth inning as a defensive substitution, said through a translator he didn't hear anyone else calling for the fly ball. But he knew after the play he wasn't seriously hurt. "We're playing for each other. We've got each others' backs and going hard," said Jason Grilli, who was pitching at the time of the collision. "I'm glad everyone is OK. That's the most important thing."
