Giants' Brandon Beachy: Signs minor-league deal with Giants
Brandon Beachy signed a minor-league contract with San Francisco on Saturday, Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.Beachy has pitched parts of five seasons in the big leagues, posting an ERA of 3.36 in 48 starts. Just two of those starts have come since 2013, however, and none have come since 2015. Elbow issues kept him out of affiliated baseball altogether the last two seasons, though he did appear briefly for the New Britain Bees of the Atlantic League last year, allowing five earned runs in 12.2 innings. It would be a surprise if the 32-year-old makes an impact at the major-league level this season, but his past success means there are certainly worse players for the San Francisco Giants to take a shot on.

Dodgers' Brandon Beachy: Remains at spring training complex
Brandon Beachy (elbow) returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers' spring training complex in June after recovering from a PRP injection, the Orange County Register reports. He still hasn't pitched in a game in 2016, and it's reasonable to think that he will be limited to a bullpen role if he's able to get back on the mound in game situations before the end of the season.

Dodgers' Brandon Beachy: Throws off mound Saturday
Brandon Beachy (arm) resumed throwing off a mound Saturday, J.P Hoonstra of the Los Angeles News Group reports.Beachy has been battling arm tendinitis since early March, but he was finally able to get back on the mound Saturday after being given a week to rest following a disastrous outing against Arizona. He'll likely need a few more mound sessions before he can be considered a go for game action, however. Look for Beachy to start the year at Triple-A despite the rash of injuries to the back end of the Los Angeles Dodgers' rotation.

Dodgers' Brandon Beachy: Diagnosed with tendinitis in arm
Brandon Beachy has been diagnosed with mild tendinitis in his right arm, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.Entering Friday's start, Beachy had conceded no runs across five innings in two spring appearances, but the tables quickly turned. In addition to a 40-pitch second inning, he was removed in the third when he was unable to set down any of the first three batters. Because he has a pair of Tommy John surgeries on the medical chart, the Los Angeles Dodgers will take it easy with the non-roster invitee with the hope he'll reenter the competition for the final spot in the rotation.

Dodgers' Brandon Beachy: Emerges from start with arm soreness
Brandon Beachy will be given a few days to rest after coming out of Friday's start with arm soreness, MLB.com reports. His velocity was down nearly three miles per hour in the third Friday following a 40-pitch second inning. Beachy, a non-roster invitee to major league spring training, came into camp saying he was no longer rehabbing after returning from his second Tommy John surgery in 2015. This may very well take him out of the running for the No. 5 rotation spot, leaving just Mike Bolsinger and Zach Lee.

Dodgers' Brandon Beachy: Lit up for six runs on Friday
Brandon Beachy was lit up by the Diamondbacks on Friday, allowing six runs on five hits and four walks in just two innings. That likely puts him behind Mike Bolsinger, Zach Lee, and maybe others in the race for the No. 5 starter job. Beachy's ERA sits at 7.71 this spring.

Dodgers' Brandon Beachy: Moving closer to rotation spot
Manager Dave Roberts listed Brandon Beachy as one of the two favorites to replace the injured Brett Anderson (back) in the Los Angeles Dodgers' rotation, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.Beachy joined the Dodgers with only an outside chance to earn a spot in the rotation, but a number of injuries -- including the one Anderson suffered that will sideline him 3-to-5 months -- have helped his chances, as the battle for the fifth starter job now figures to come down to him and Mike Bolsinger. Beachy may have more upside than his counterpart, but Bolsinger made 21 starts for the Dodgers last season while the injury-prone Beachy made just 20 starts total over the last four years, so the Dodgers may simply opt for the more reliable option.

Dodgers' Brandon Beachy: Outrighted to Triple-A on Wednesday
Brandon Beachy was outrighted to the Los Angeles Dodgers' Triple-A roster but will still appear at major league spring training. The Dodgers wanted to open up a spot on the 40-man roster, and Beachy proved to be the odd man out. He'll stay on as a non-roster invitee to spring training. Fortunately for the Dodgers, his $1.5 million contract is not guaranteed, so they can release him if he fails to make the big league roster out of spring training. It would've been tough to crack the rotation as it was, but now it will be even tougher now that he's off the 40-man roster.
