Allen Webster: Cut loose by Washington
The Nationals released Allen Webster on Monday, Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.Webster, who appeared in 12 games out of the Cubs bullpen in 2019, joined Washington on a minor-league deal in late February and was expected to begin the season at Double-A Harrisburg. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic putting the 2020 minor-league season in jeopardy, the Nationals have decided to cut salary last week by releasing Webster and 39 other minor-league players. The 30-year-old is now free to join another organization either in MLB or abroad.
