    Jonathan Pettibone (shoulder) was assigned to minor league camp on Monday, the Chicago Sun-Times' Gordon Wittenmyer reports.He did not pitch in any spring games for the Chicago Cubs, likely due to the fact that his shoulder still isn't right after needing a second surgery on that right shoulder in July. When healthy, he should head to Triple-A, and while he has always been a starter, the Cubs may look to convert him to a reliever.

    Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jonathan Pettibone was activated from the 60-day DL and outrighted from the 40-man roster Wednesday, MLB.com reports.The Phillies apparently didn't think Pettibone had recovered well enough from his second shoulder surgery in less than a year, ultimately outrighting their former third-round pick after just 20 career appearances with the club. He will likely continue rehabbing his shoulder in the minors, if no team claims the 25-year-old.

    Phillies select Severino Gonzalez from minors, option Hector Neris

    The Philadelphia Phillies have selected the contract of pitcher Severino Gonzalez and optioned pitcher Hector Neris to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, the team announced Monday.  Gonzalez was reportedly expected to get a call up to make the start for Philadelphia Tuesday against the Cardinals, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Gonzalez posted a 1-1 record in Triple-A with a 3.57 ERA and nine strikeouts in 17 2/3 innings pitched. Neris worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings this season with two strikeouts and one walk. To make room for Gonzalez, pitcher Jonathan Pettibone was transferred to the 60-day DL with a shoulder injury.

    Phillies P Jonathan Pettibone (shoulder) pitches in rehab game

    For the first time since undergoing right shoulder surgery last June, Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jonathan Pettibone was able to pitch in a live game Friday, reports Philly.com. Pettibone pitched a perfect inning during a rehab assignment Friday in the minor leagues. Pettibone threw 11 pitches and topped out at 87 mph with his fastball. "I'm just continuing the long process of getting back on the mound and getting back healthy," Pettibone said of his first game. "This is the first step and one of the last steps, so I will get back out there and be ready to go next time."

    Phillies send Hollands, Pettibone, Billingsley to DL

    The Philadelphia Phillies placed pitcher Mario Hollands (elbow) on the 60-day disabled list and pitchers Jonathan Pettibone (shoulder) and Chad Billingsley (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list Sunday.     Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jonathan Pettibone threw 22 pitches during live batting practice Tuesday, which was the first time he threw to hitters since undergoing shoulder surgery in June, per The Philadelphia Inquirer.  "Anytime you're facing a live hitter and you have the adrenaline going and you've got to mix your pitches, that kind of competitive edge comes out," Pettibone said. "When you're able to get through that and succeed and you felt good, that's definitely a positive step going forward." Pettibone said he expects to be back in action sometime in May. Although, he will probably start out at Triple-A before getting his chance to join the major-league rotation.
