Carlos Contreras: Released by Reds
Carlos Contreras cleared waivers Wednesday and has been released by the Reds, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.Just two days after being optioned Monday in the Reds' first round of spring training cuts, the organization decided to cut bait and release Contreras. The 25-year-old right hander has been saddled with command issues as illustrated by his astronomical walk rate numbers in 2015 (6.8 BB/9 at Triple-A Louisville, 6.4 BB/9 with Cincinnati). He is now a free agent and could find a spot in another organization's camp as a depth option.
