    Carlos Lee retires

Former White Sox, Brewers, Rangers, Astros and Marlins outfielder and first baseman Carlos Lee has retired, ESPN Deportes reports. Lee told a Panamanian radio show he had receieved four offers from major league teams but did not want to settle for a one-year deal. Lee was coming off a .264/.332/.365 season in 147 games between Houston and Florida in 2012.  Lee finishes with 358 career home runs and a .285/.339/.483 line in 2,099 games. He played in three All-Star games and won two Silver Slugger awards.

    Lee faces uncertain future

After a season filled with persistent trade rumors, even after being dealt once, veteran outfielder/first baseman Carlos Lee will likely be seeking a new home as a free agent during the offseason. Lee finished the year with Miami after beginning the season in Houston, but hardly found a rhythm with the Marlins and produced a .243 batting average as his power numbers continued to decline. He managed a career-low nine homers, including just four shots in 81 games with Miami, while driving in 77 runs -- also a career low. Lee played exclusively as a first baseman last season.
