Rockies' Yonathan Daza: Needs shoulder surgery
Yonathan Daza is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder next week, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.Daza was pushed off the 40-man roster in Colorado back in early May and injured his shoulder this past Sunday while playing in a game for Triple-A Albuquerque. If it's a labrum repair, he might struggle to get back to full health before the beginning of the 2024 campaign. The 29-year-old will be arbitration-eligible this winter.

Rockies' Yonathan Daza: Goes unclaimed
Yonathan Daza was outrighted to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday after clearing waivers.Daza owns a 75 wRC+ across 924 big-league plate appearances and has graded out as an average-to-below-average defender in the outfield over the past two seasons, so it's not overly surprising that none of the league's other 29 teams were willing to put in a waiver claim for him. He'll stick in the Colorado organization and could face a more difficult path back to the big leagues now that he's no longer a member of the Colorado Rockies' 40-man roster.

Rockies' Yonathan Daza: Sitting Monday with sore hand
Yonathan Daza (hand) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians, Suzie Hunter of TheDNVR.com reports.Daza isn't feeling 100 percent after he was removed from Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Phillies shortly after being hit by a pitch in the left hand, so he'll get Monday off while he waits for the pain to subside. Though he's considered day-to-day and is expected to avoid a stint on the injured list, Daza's days as an everyday player in the outfield could soon be coming to an end, as Randal Grichuk (groin) is in the midst of a rehab assignment and could be activated from the 10-day IL in the coming days. Brenton Doyle, who was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque earlier in the day, will spell Daza in center field Monday.
