Nationals' Tyler Goeddel: Reaches minors deal with Washington
Tyler Goeddel agreed to a minor-league contract with the Washington Nationals, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.Goeddel received 234 plate appearances with the Phillies in 2016, but that was largely a byproduct of him being a Rule 5 selection rather than earning his way to the majors on merit. In the two seasons since, he's played exclusively at the Double-A or Triple-A ranks in the Phillies, Reds and Dodgers organizations. He slashed a collective .219/.298/.329 between three minor-league stops in 2018.

Reds' Tyler Goeddel: Outrighted to Triple A
Tyler Goeddel cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville on Friday.Goeddel joins a crowded outfield at Louisville, led by highly-touted left fielder Jesse Winker, so it's going to be tough to make an immediate impact. Nonetheless, it's a new beginning for the 24-year-old after being designated for assignment by the Phillies last week, though he'll need to improve upon his .192/.258/.291 slash line from 2016 if he wants to get back to the big leagues.

Reds' Tyler Goeddel: Swept up by Reds
Tyler Goeddel was claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of The News Journal reports.Goeddel, the top Rule 5 draft pick in the winter of 2015, spent all of the 2016 campaign at the big-league level, but was DFA'd this offseason after batting just .192 in 92 games. The Reds decided to take a flier on the young outfielder given their focus on acquiring young talent, although the multitude of outfield options in Cincinnati and Triple-A Louisville forced the Reds to option him straight to Double-A Pensacola.

Phillies' Tyler Goeddel: Will begin season at Double-A
Tyler Goeddel will begin the season at Double-A Reading, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. It's a drastic fall for Goeddel, who played in 92 games with the Philadelphia Phillies last season as a Rule 5 pick. However, with no room at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, the team had little choice but to place the left fielder the next rung down. "I'm not too happy about that, but you can't control it," he said. Nonetheless, the demotion will warrant plenty of playing opportunities for Goeddel and allow him to find his swing after a difficult spring (7-for-28 with 12 strikeouts).

Phillies' Tyler Goeddel: Expected to start year in minors
Tyler Goeddel is expected to open the season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Ryan Lawrence of the Philly Voice reports.Goeddel is in camp competing for a bench job, but there is little chance he cracks the active roster after losing a year of development as a Rule 5 pick last season. He hit a paltry .192 with a .549 OPS, and managed just 55 at-bats after the All-Star break. He is expected to rotate through the outfield and DH spot at Triple-A where he could position himself for another look in the majors this summer if he gets off to a strong start.

Phillies' Tyler Goeddel: Diagnosed with concussion
Tyler Goeddel was diagnosed with a concussion Thursday, Jack McCaffery of the Delaware County Daily Times reports. After being hit in the head by a pitch Wednesday night, it seems one of the worst-case scenarios happened to Goeddel. Unfortunately, this could keep the Rule-5 pick out for the rest of the season if he doesn't clear the concussion protocol quickly enough, but his status should become clearer as he continues to rest over the coming days.
