He'll be eligible to be reinstated Sept. 25 against the Red Sox, but depending on how long he needs to recover, it's possible he doesn't return during the regular season. Reliever Clarke Schmidt was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to replace Romano on the 28-man roster.
