Ryan Doumit still open to catching

A comment by former Twins teammate Brian Dozier led new Atlanta Braves catcher Ryan Doumit to receive a call from a panicked Fredi Gonzalez. Dozier had claimed that Doumit would never catch again after a collision resulted in a concussion last August. "[Gonzalez] was like, 'What am I hearing?' I was like, 'I'm hearing the same thing and that's news to me.'" Doumit told MLB.com. "But I assure you I have every intention on catching and I want to catch." Doumit added his belief that Dozier's comments were misinterpreted and that his one-time teammate apologized for the confusion. He will not start, however. He will be used as a backup to Evan Gattis, who has taken over for the departed Brian McCann.
