Cardinals' Tekoah Roby: Goes to St. Louis in five-player deal
The St. Louis Cardinals acquired Tekoah Roby (shoulder), infielder Thomas Saggese and left-hander John King from the Rangers on Sunday in exchange for left-hander Jordan Montgomery and right-hander Chris Stratton, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Both Saggese and Roby were well-regarded prospects within the Rangers' farm system, though the latter inherently carries more long-term risk in fantasy as a pitcher who has already missed considerable time due to elbow and shoulder injuries during his minor-league career. The 21-year-old right-hander had been occupying a spot on Double-A Frisco's 7-day injured list since early June due to the shoulder issue, but the Cardinals must have been encouraged enough by his medical reports to take him on in the five-player deal. Prior to being shelved, Roby posted a 4.68 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 45:10 K:BB in 42.1 innings with Frisco.

Rangers' Tekoah Roby: Looks ready for '22 season
Tekoah Roby (elbow) resumed facing hitters during the Texas Rangers' fall instructional camp and is expected to enter the 2022 minor-league season with no restrictions, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.A 2020 draft pick who made his professional debut in 2021, Roby submitted a 2.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 35:7 K:BB across 22 innings in his first six starts with Low-A Down East before he was shut down in mid-June with a right elbow strain. He was fortunate to avoid Tommy John surgery, and after treating the injury with extended rest and recovery, Roby looked dominant once again in his limited action in instructional ball, most notably tossing an immaculate inning during one of his appearances. The Rangers may send him back to Down East to begin the 2022 campaign, but if he's able to immediately pick up where he left off last year, a promotion to High-A Hickory could come quickly.
