Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Sent packing to minors

The Baltimore Orioles optioned Trevor Rogers to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.Baltimore obviously saw something in Rogers to the point that it surrendered a surprisingly hefty trade package to acquire him at the deadline, but the club has been unable to fix him. In fact, Rogers has been much worse for the Orioles than he had been with the Marlins this season, collecting a 7.11 ERA and 12:10 K:BB over 19 innings covering four starts since joining his new team. With Rogers out of the picture, Cole Irvin and Cade Povich will continue getting starts for the Orioles, at least until Zach Eflin (shoulder) and/or Grayson Rodriguez (lat) return from the injured list.

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Can't complete five innings

Trevor Rogers didn't factor into the decision Monday against the Mets, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks across 4.2 innings. He struck out five.Rogers allowed three hits in the first inning -- including a two-run homer to J.D. Martinez -- but settled in afterward. Still, he wasn't able to finish out the fifth inning, being pulled after 91 pitches. Depth has been an issue for the left-hander lately, as he hasn't completed six innings since June 27. In four starts with the Baltimore Orioles, Rogers is 0-2 with a 7.11 ERA and a 12:10 K:BB across 19 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Astros this weekend.

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Allows five runs in loss

Trevor Rogers (2-11) took the loss against the Nationals on Tuesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts over five innings.Rogers' velocity was down on each of his offerings, and he generated only five whiffs on 78 pitches. He has failed to register a win or quality start in three chances with the Baltimore Orioles, allowing five earned runs in two of those contests. On the season, the southpaw owns a 4.89 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 92:53 K:BB across 119.2 innings and lines up for a home matchup with the Red Sox this weekend.

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Solid in second start for O's

Trevor Rogers came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out two.The southpaw left the mound after 94 pitches (59 strikes) in line for a loss, but the Baltimore offense got rolling in the late innings. Rogers showed some jitters in his Baltimore Orioles' debut Aug. 1 following a trade-deadline deal from the Marlins, but he was back in his usual form Wednesday -- he's allowed two earned runs or less in six of seven outings since the beginning of July, although he has zero quality starts to show for it as he hasn't lasted longer than 5.2 innings in any of those appearances. Rogers will look for his first win with his new club early next week in a home start against a familiar foe from the NL East in the Nationals.

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Labors in Baltimore debut

Trevor Rogers (2-10) took the loss against Cleveland on Thursday, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three batters over 4.1 innings.Rogers was acquired in a trade with the Marlins on Tuesday to bolster the Baltimore Orioles' rotation, but he didn't fare well in the first start with his new club. The left-hander gave up a pair of runs in the first inning and three more in the third, and he was pulled after issuing a one-out walk in the fifth. The five earned runs were the second-most Rogers has given up in a game this season, and Thursday marked the first time he's given up more than three runs in a start since June 2. Rogers will look to make a better impression the next time he takes the mound, which is tentatively slated to be in Toronto next week.

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Making team debut Thursday

Trevor Rogers was added to the Baltimore Orioles' 26-man active roster and will start Thursday's game against the Guardians in Cleveland. He'll be making his Orioles debut on five days' rest after he took the hill for the Marlins for the final time last Friday before he was shipped to Baltimore. Rogers will slot in as a back-end starter for the Orioles after accruing unremarkable ratios (4.53 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 85:46 in 105.1 innings) over his 21 starts with the Marlins this season. A change of scenery as well as feedback from a new coaching staff could help him reverse his downward-trending strikeout rate to some degree, and at the very least, he'll benefit from being supported by a far better offense in Baltimore than the one that backed him in Miami. Rogers earned just two wins while the Marlins averaged 2.7 runs in his 21 starts.

Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Acquired by Baltimore

The Baltimore Orioles acquired Trevor Rogers from the Marlins on Tuesday in exchange for infielder Connor Norby and outfielder Kyle Stowers, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.Rogers entered June with a 5.65 ERA on the season but has been much better since then, posting a 3.48 ERA over his last 10 starts. He has an underwhelming 41:21 K:BB over 54.1 innings during the latter stretch, however, and his velocity has been down all season. Baltimore paid a steep price to acquire Rogers, but it must feel it can unlock more from the left-hander, who is likely to slot in as the club's No. 5 starter. He'll likely make his Orioles debut during the club's four-game series in Cleveland that begins Thursday.

He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits, two walks and five strikeouts over 4.2 innings.Rogers allowed just two runners to reach the first time through the Mets' order but wasn't as effective the second time, as he ran into jams in the fourth and fifth innings before being pulled. The 26-year-old has a streak of eight straight outings in which he has allowed fewer than three runs and has at least five strikeouts in five of those eight appearances.
