Hinch said that Brant Hurter will start Tuesday's game against the Angels in Detroit, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.Hurter had been making regular turns through the Detroit rotation since his Aug. 4 call-up from Triple-A Toledo, but Hinch had deployed the left-hander as a bulk reliever behind an opener on each of his first four big-league appearances. The 25-year-old rookie has fared well in that capacity, ringing up a 3.57 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 17:1 K:BB, and the Tigers now appear motivated to see if he can maintain that form while operating in a traditional starting role. A banged-up Tigers pitching staff will get some reinforcements in the rotation this week with the promotion of prospect Ty Madden from Triple-A and with Casey Mize's (hamstring) expected return from the 60-day injured list, but Hurter should have a case for sticking around in a starting role the rest of the season if he continues to impress Tuesday.
