Athletics' Hogan Harris: Takes fourth loss Saturday
Hogan Harris (4-4) took the loss against the White Sox on Saturday, allowing a game-winning solo home run to the only batter he faced.Closer Mason Miller had garnered a 21-pitch save Friday night, so Harris was called on to preserve a 6-6 tie in the ninth Saturday. There wasn't much suspense before he proved he wasn't up to the task, as Andrew Benintendi took Harris deep to right field on the fourth pitch he saw from the left-hander for the game-winning hit. Harris was fresh after last having pitched Tuesday, but the stumble resulted in the third run he'd allowed over his last four appearances (4.2 innings).

Athletics' Hogan Harris: Picks up fourth win Tuesday
Hogan Harris (4-3) got the extra-innings win against the Astros on Tuesday, allowing an unearned run on one hit over two innings. He struck out three.Harris breezed through his first frame in the 11th while preserving a 2-2 tie, striking out two of the three batters he faced. He returned for the 12th after the Oakland Athletics had rallied for two runs in the top half of the frame, and although he allowed a double to Jose Altuve, Harris subsequently bore down and retired the dangerous trio of Yordan Alvarez, Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman to end the game. Harris has been effective out of the bullpen since his return to the big-league club in late August, mustering a 2-0 record, 0.93 ERA and 0.93 WHIP across 9.2 innings over five appearances.

Athletics' Hogan Harris: Earns win in stellar relief outing
Hogan Harris (3-3) got the win against the Mariners on Tuesday, firing three scoreless innings during which he allowed two walks and recorded three strikeouts.Harris took over following a quality start from rookie J.T. Ginn and put together a highly efficient long-relief effort, requiring only 37 pitches to record nine outs. The left-hander helped keep the Mariners at bay and then reaped the rewards when Seth Brown hit a walk-off single, affording Harris the first victory of his current big-league stint. Harris is likely to continue being used in a relief role down the stretch, although multi-inning outings will likely be the norm given he's capable of tolerating the elevated workloads.

Athletics' Hogan Harris: Back in majors
The Oakland Athletics recalled Hogan Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.Harris has been relatively effective in the big leagues this season, putting up a 2.98 ERA and 1.44 WHIP across 54.1 innings. However, he's turned in a 4.94 ERA and 1.83 WHIP over 27.1 frames since being sent to Triple-A in late July. He'll presumably work out of the bullpen until he's able to find some consistency, at which point he could return to Oakland's rotation. Dany Jimenez was optioned to Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

Athletics' Hogan Harris: Inconsistent since Triple-A return
Hogan Harris owns a 2-2 record, 4.94 ERA and 1.83 WHIP across 27.1 innings over five starts since being optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on July 26.The poor ratios are largely the result of Harris' last two starts, during which he surrendered 12 runs (11 earned) on 16 hits (three home runs) and five walks across 9.1 innings. In contrast, Harris' first three starts upon returning to Las Vegas saw him replicate much of the same success he enjoyed at the big-league level, as he pitched to a 2-0 record, 2.00 ERA and 11.0 K/9 in that span. Control has clearly been a persistent issue at both levels for Harris, however, and it's unclear when the Oakland Athletics may be willing to give the southpaw another look in the majors.

Athletics' Hogan Harris: Returning Friday
Hogan Harris is in line to return from the paternity list to start Friday's game in Philadelphia.Harris has been away from the team for the maximum three games since being placed on the paternity list Tuesday, so Oakland would have had to add him back to the roster Friday even if he wasn't scheduled to start. He'll be taking the hill on six days' rest after facing Baltimore last weekend. Harris has been a dependable innings eater for Oakland, working between five and six frames in all but one of his last seven outings while delivering a 3.00 ERA and 1.36 WHIP during that stretch.
