  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Exits with apparent injury

Garcia was removed from Thursday's game against the Phillies due to an apparent left side injury, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Garcia appeared to be grabbing his left side after grounding out in the sixth inning, and he was removed from the game in the seventh. Prior to his departure, he went 1-for-3 with a double and a strikeout. The exact nature and severity of his injury aren't yet clear.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Managing thumb issue

Kim isn't starting Thursday against the Giants due to a minor thumb injury, Annie Heilbrunn of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Kim sustained his thumb injury Monday and will be out of the lineup for a second consecutive game. However, he doesn't sound too concerned about the issue and said that he might be able to appear off the bench if needed Thursday.

  • Ha-seong Kim 2B | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Remains out of lineup

Kim isn't in the lineup Thursday against San Francisco.

Kim sat out Tuesday's series finale against the Mariners and will remain out of the lineup for a second consecutive game Thursday. Over his last three games, he's gone 5-for-11 with a homer, two runs, two RBI, a walk and two strikeouts. CJ Abrams is starting at shortstop and batting ninth.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Mets' Luis Guillorme: Sitting against lefty

Guillorme is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

With southpaw Daniel Castano on the mound for Miami, the lefty-hitting Guillorme will retreat to the bench in the series opener. Jeff McNeil draws the start at second base, while J.D. Davis enters the lineup as the Mets' designated hitter.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Back in lineup Thursday

India (ankle) is starting at second base and batting leadoff in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader with the Pirates.

After being hit in the ankle by a pitch Wednesday and exiting the contest early, India will be back in the lineup Thursday. The 26-year-old has produced just one hit in 15 at-bats so far in July, lowering his batting average to .204 on the season.

  • Reds' Brandon Drury: Swipes second bag

Drury went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 8-3 extra-inning loss to the Mets.

After going just 2-for-19 over the prior six games, Drury snapped back to life at the plate and chipped in his second steal of the year for good measure. The veteran utility player is having a breakout campaign, slashing .270/.331/.524 through 293 plate appearances with a career-high 17 homers, 45 RBI and 50 runs.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Leaves for pinch runner

Marte started at designated hitter and went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Giants.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo continues to use Marte at DH, fearing the aggravation of a recent hamstring injury if the manager puts the player in the field. That fear was apparently at play in the ninth inning Wednesdary, when Lovullo removed Marte for a pinch runner after the DH singled home a run and became the tying run. Marte has not played in the field since June 21.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: X-rays negative on ankle

India had X-rays come back negative on his ankle after being hit by a pitch during Wednesday's game against the Mets, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

India was struck by the pitch to lead off the bottom half of the first inning and initially remained in the contest, but he was replaced by a pinch hitter in the following frame. The 25-year-old appears to have avoided a serious injury and should be considered day-to-day.

  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Close to shedding boot

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Gonzales (heel) will shed his walking boot in 5-to-7 days, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Gonzales has been in a walking boot since late June, but he's been able to swing and play catch while in the boot recently. The 23-year-old will presumably be able to ramp up his activity level once he sheds his boot, but it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to game action.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Sitting against left-hander

Gorman isn't starting Wednesday against Atlanta, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Gorman has started against just one left-handed pitcher this year, and he'll retreat to the bench with southpaw Max Fried on the mound Wednesday. Tommy Edman is shifting to second base while Albert Pujols serves as the designated hitter.
