Vargas went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run, a double, two walks and an additional run scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Royals.
After Sam Antonacci drew a leadoff walk in the first inning, Vargas opened the scoring with a 407-foot two-run homer. He later doubled and drew two free passes, reaching base in all four plate appearances. Vargas has now hit safely in six straight games, batting .435 (10-for-23) with three homers during that span. Through 81 games this season, he owns an .866 OPS while slugging his way to 19 home runs, 14 doubles, one triple, 52 RBI, 56 runs scored and 10 stolen bases.

Vargas took Parker Messick deep in the sixth inning for a solo homer that ultimately stood as the game-winning run. The blast was his 17th home run of the season. While Vargas opened June with a nine-game hitting streak, he has cooled considerably since then, batting just .139 (5-for-36) over his last 10 games with his only RBI coming from Tuesday's blast.

Though his production wasn't enough to guide Chicago to a victory, Vargas certainly made his fantasy managers happy. He belted a two-run blast in the fifth inning to pull the White Sox to within two runs and gave his team a glimmer of hope with another two-run shot in the ninth. Vargas had a strong May with seven home runs, 19 RBI and four stolen bases over 28 contests, and he's already gotten off to a blazing start to June. On the season, he's slashing .241/.366/.509 with 15 homers (tied for 10th-most in MLB), 38 RBI, 44 runs and nine steals through 59 games.

Vargas came through when the White Sox needed him the most and launched a walk-off, two-out homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Chicago a much-needed win against a division rival. Vargas has been one of the most productive hitters for the White Sox in 2026. He has 13 homers, nine doubles, 34 RBI, 41 runs scored, nine stolen bases and an .850 OPS across 56 games. He's been particularly hot since the beginning of May, launching seven homers and posting a .901 OPS across 26 contests.
