  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Expected back next weekend

McNeil (hamstring) is expected to return from the injured list next weekend, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

McNeil has been out for nearly a month with a hamstring strain. He's expected to begin a rehab assignment soon but will need at least a handful of games before he's ready for big-league at-bats given the length of his absence.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Mets' Luis Guillorme: Returns from injured list Friday

Guillorme (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.

The 26-year-old has been sidelined by a strained right oblique since late April, but he'll rejoin the active roster Friday following a six-game rehab stint at Triple-A Syracuse. Guillorme could see significant playing time early on between second and third base with Jeff McNeil (hamstring) and J.D. Davis (hand) still on the injured list.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Makes impact off bench

Rodgers went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI in Thursday's 11-4 loss to Miami.

Rodgers pinch hit for Charlie Blackmon and got Colorado on the board with a solo home run in the seventh inning. The infielder added an RBI single in the following frame. Trevor Story (elbow) returned to action Thursday, so Rodgers is likely to see a bench role going forward. He's now slashing .280/.362/.420 with two homers, 10 RBI and three runs scored across 58 plate appearances.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Takes seat in Story's return

Rodgers is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain reports.

With Trevor Story (elbow) returning from the injured list Thursday, Rodgers' time as the Rockies' top shortstop has come to an end. The 2015 first-round pick has played on a near-everyday basis since making his return from a hamstring injury May 21, delivering a .250 average with one home run, eight RBI and two runs in 16 games. Rodgers will likely lose out on reps now that Story is back in the fold, but he should still compete for playing at second base with Ryan McMahon and Garrett Hampson.

  • Isan Diaz 2B | DET

Marlins' Isan Diaz: Not in Thursday's lineup

Diaz isn't starting Thursday against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Diaz will get a breather after he went 5-for-18 with two doubles, two RBI, three walks and seven strikeouts in his last five games. Jon Berti will shift to the hot corner while Jose Devers starts at second base.

  • Alan Trejo SS | COL

Rockies' Alan Trejo: Optioned to Albuquerque

Trejo was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.

Trejo's latest stint on the big-league roster lasted nine days. He appeared in just three games but went 2-for-4 with a homer in limited action. Trevor Story (elbow) returned from the injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Brewers' Luis Urias: Holding down leadoff role

Urias will start at third base and bat leadoff Thursday against the Reds.

Urias will draw a sixth consecutive start out of the leadoff spot, and he'll likely remain entrenched atop the order for the foreseeable future with Kolten Wong (oblique) not expected to return from the injured list until late June. Since moving into the table-setting role, Urias has reached base at a .364 clip.

  • Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | NYM

Pirates' Ji-hwan Bae: Lands on injured list

Bae (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list by Double-A Altoona on Wednesday, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.

The infield prospect left Tuesday's game after being injured in an outfield collision. It's unclear what exactly Bae is dealing with or how long he'll be sidelined.

  • Mets' Brandon Drury: Shifts back to reserve role

Drury is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Jonathan Villar returned to the lineup in Tuesday's 10-3 loss after missing the previous four games with a hamstring injury, closing the door on Drury's path to an everyday role. After having recently started four times in five-game stretch, Drury will now be on the bench for the third time in four contests with Villar available again.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Riding pine Wednesday

Rojas isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

Rojas will get a breather after he went 0-for-8 with five strikeouts across the past two games. Ildemaro Vargas will start at second base and bat ninth.
