Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Records no-decision Friday
Tarik Skubal allowed three runs on seven hits across 5.2 innings and did not factor into the decision in Friday's 4-3 win over the White Sox. He walked one and struck out eight. It wasn't a typically dominant Skubal performance in his second game back after being on the injured list since the end of April. In those two starts, the star lefty has allowed six runs (five earned) across 10.1 innings while striking out 12, and he's now sitting with a 3.02 ERA and 9.6 K/9 through his first nine appearances this year. Home runs were the culprit Friday, as Skubal served up solo shots in the first and sixth innings to put sour bookends on his night. He'll look for more of his usual ace performance his next time out, which is currently scheduled for Wednesday against the Yankees at home.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Gives up two runs in return
Tarik Skubal (3-3) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Guardians after allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk across 4.2 innings. He struck out four and hit a batter.Skubal tied his shortest outing of the season in his first taste of major-league action since April 29. The superstar southpaw was limited to 80 pitches (53 strikes) after missing around six weeks due to loose bodies in his elbow, and it remains to be seen how long it'll take him to rediscover his dominant form after he was the first pitcher to undergo surgery using a nanoneedle that significantly reduced his recovery time. He had a 2.70 ERA and 0.95 WHIP across 43.1 innings prior to being shut down. His next start is set to come at home against a White Sox offense that has been one of the most productive in the American League in recent weeks.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Activated ahead of start
The Detroit Tigers reinstated Tarik Skubal (elbow) from the injured list ahead of his start Saturday against Cleveland, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.Skubal's start Saturday will mark his first outing since April 29 following a lightning-fast recovery from a procedure to remove loose bodies in his elbow. He made one rehab start at High-A West Michigan during his recovery but threw just 54 pitches, so he'll likely be working under a pitch count while taking on the Guardians. Ty Madden was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Confirmed to return Saturday
Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch confirmed Thursday that Tarik Skubal (elbow) will rejoin the rotation Saturday in Cleveland, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. All told, Skubal will have been sidelined only 38 days after having surgery in early May to remove a loose body from his left elbow. The left-hander was excellent in his lone rehab start, striking out six over five scoreless frames for High-A West Michigan on Sunday. Skubal threw only 54 pitches in that outing, so he will be relatively limited from a workload perspective against the Guardians.

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Could return Saturday
Tarik Skubal (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.Skubal struck out six batters in five innings during his rehab start at High-A West Michigan on Sunday, and he said Tuesday that he hasn't had any problems recovering from his appearance. He added that he expects things to go well during his bullpen session Wednesday, and if the Detroit Tigers are satisfied with his performance, it could be the final hurdle in his recovery from left elbow surgery. Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Dazzles in rehab start
Tarik Skubal (elbow) tossed five scoreless innings Sunday in a rehab start with High-A West Michigan, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out six batters.Back on the mound for the first time since undergoing surgery May 6 to remove a loose body from his left elbow, Skubal exhibited no signs of rust. Though he was facing off against lower-caliber competition, Skubal was supremely efficient, spotting 44 of his 54 total pitches for strikes. According to Jeff Seidel of the Detroit Free Press, Skubal tossed an additional 15 pitches out of the bullpen following the start, so he could be stretched out enough to make his next appearance with the big club. The Detroit Tigers will presumably reassess Skubal in a bullpen session within the next few days, and if all goes well, he could rejoin the Detroit rotation as soon as Friday in Cleveland. Even if the Tigers elect to send Skubal out for another rehab start, he's still on track to easily beat his initial estimated recovery timeline of 2-to-3 months following surgery.
