    Blue Jays sign DH Luke Scott to minor-league deal

    The Toronto Blue Jays have signed designated hitter Luke Scott to a minor-league deal on Thursday, according to CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman. Scott has a .258/.340/.481 slash line in nine seasons in the majors.  He will join Triple-A Buffalo, and will make approximately $550,000 if he reaches the majors -- something he hasn't done since 2013.

The DH in the game, Scott, hitting second, went 1 for 4 with a single and a run scored.  The Rays are hoping Scott can make it back Sept. 1. Scott is batting .249 with nine homers and 39 RBI over 237 at-bats this season.

    Luke Scott lands on disabled list

    Tampa Bay Rays designated hitter Luke Scott could not get back in the lineup Saturday against Toronto and is headed for the disabled list, the Tampa Bay Times reports. Scott is dealing with back spasms and will rest them on the shelf.  Scott has been bothered by the injury for about a week and his DL stint is retroactive to his last game played on Wednesday. Scott is batting .249 with nine homers and 39 RBI over 237 at-bats this season. He did not have an RBI over his previous 10 games.

    Luke Scott still dealing with back spasms

    Tampa Bay Rays designated hitter Luke Scott was held out of Friday's lineup against the Blue Jays due to back spasms, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Scott wasn't available Thursday and has been bothered this entire week by the injury. He could be available to pinch-hit Friday, according to the report. He is slashing .249/.336/.430 with nine homers and 39 RBI in 237 at-bats.

    Luke Scott back in action

    Tampa Bay Rays designated hitter Luke Scott, who had been out since last Wednesday due to a stiff back, returned to action as the DH Sunday in New York.  Scott went 0 for 5 in the 6-5 loss to the Yankees. He's batting .264 on the season.  The 35-year-old has gone 1 for 11 in his last three games and just four hits since the All-Star break.

Scott is day to day but said he expects to play Sunday.  Scott has at least one base hit in nine of his last 10 games with three homers and eight RBI over that stretch.
