Red Sox's Carlos Quentin: Signs on with Red Sox
Carlos Quentin signed a minor league deal with the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports. There was speculation Quentin would retire last March after opting out of his contract with Minnesota, but apparently the 34-year-old is giving it one more try. He hasn't played in the majors since 2014 and spent last season in the Mexican League, batting just .211 in 21 games as the DH. The former All-Star will most likely serve as organizational depth for Boston.

Carlos Quentin: Likely to retire
Carlos Quentin was granted his request to be released Monday and appears likely to retire, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. The veteran outfielder had a June 1 opt-out clause in his contract if he chose to accept the assignment to Triple-A, but Quentin appears to only want to stay in baseball if he can get a spot on a major league roster. He could be a decent outfield depth option for a team looking for another outfielder, but there's a good chance that no team adds him, which would lead to Quentin's retirement.

Carlos Quentin: Elects free agency
Carlos Quentin refused his assignment to Triple-A and is now a free agent, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.Quentin posted a respectable .833 OPS this spring, so he is hoping to catch on with another team rather than open the season in the minors. Whether or not he will land a major league deal remains to be seen, so his 2016 campaign could very well still begin with a Triple-A squad.

Twins' Carlos Quentin: Assigned to minor league camp
Carlos Quentin was re-assigned to minor league camp. With Quentin and Darin Mastroianni getting sent down and Ryan Sweeney earlier released, it all but guarantees that Byron Buxton will begin the season in center field and Oswaldo Arcia will win a spot on the bench. Quentin showed he can play again after retiring early in 2015 due to chronic knee issues. He hit .250 (9-for-36) with two home runs in 15 spring games. If he plays well at Triple-A, he could be called up early in the season if the Minnesota Twins have an opening.

Twins' Carlos Quentin: Signs minor league deal with Twins
Carlos Quentin signed a minor league deal with the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.Quentin spent brief stints with the Mariners and Braves organizations early last season before announcing his retirement in May, but he'll return to the game in hopes of cracking the Twins Opening Day roster as a DH option off the bench. The 33-year-old hit just .177 in his last taste of Major League action back in 2014, but he slashed .275/.363/.493 for the Padres just three seasons ago. Quentin is somewhat of a longshot to make the 25-man roster, and he'd likely return to retirement rather than toil in Triple-A, should he fail to make the cut.
