Randy Messenger: Signs contract extension to stay in Japan

Randy Messenger signed a two-year, $3.1 million contract extension with the Hanshin Tigers, the Japan Times reports.Messenger went 12-11 last season with a 3.01 ERA for Hanshin and has been a top starter in NPB (73-65 with a 3.05 ERA in seven seasons). It's unlikely he'll return to play in MLB as he'll turn 37 at the end of his contract.
