    Braves' George Kottaras: Signs minor league deal with Atlanta

    George Kottaras signed a minor league contract with Atlanta on Saturday, Kevin McAlpin of Atlanta BravesRadioNet reports.It didn't take long for Kottaras to find a new job as he was picked up by Atlanta two days after being released by San Francisco. The 33-year-old catcher has not played in the majors in several years as he spent 2015 playing with Triple-A Charlotte and Triple-A Buffalo and all of 2016 with Triple-A Sacramento. He'll now head to yet another Triple-A affiliate, the Gwinnett Braves, to continue his 2016 campaign.

    George Kottaras was released by the Giants on Thursday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.Kottaras was hitting .155/.290/.224 with one home run and six RBI in 23 games for Triple-A Sacramento this season. The Giants decided to release the 33-year-old catcher after he agreed to a minor league contract with the team in the offseason. Kottaras hasn't played in the majors since 2014 and could be nearing the end of the road after only playing in 27 major-league games in the past three years.

    George Kottaras agreed to a minor league deal with the Giants, MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports.Despite having 313 career big-league appearances to his name, the 32-year-old Kottaras will likely be no higher than fourth on San Francisco's organizational catching depth chart. At best, he'll compete with Trevor Brown for the No. 3 spot behind Buster Posey and Andrew Susac.
