    Derrek Lee sticking to retirement

    Yahoo! Sports reports that first baseman Derrek Lee has decided to stay retired. The New York Yankees had previously reached out to Lee in the wake of an injury to Mark Teixeira, but Lee turned down the team's offer. Teixeira is expected to miss 8-to-10 weeks of action. Lee, who sat out the 2012 season, has a .281/.365/.495 career line with 331 home runs in 7,963 plate appearances.

    Yankees reach out to Lee

    The New York Times reports the Yankees have reached out to first baseman Derrek Lee to see if he would be interested in coming out of retirement. The club is looking for solutions at first base with Mark Teixeira expected to miss up to 10 weeks due to a strained right wrist. Lee last played in the majors in 2011, when he batted .267 with 19 homers and 59 RBI in 113 games for the Orioles and Pirates.
