    The Washington Post reported Thursday that Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo flew to Puerto Rico to watch Javier Vazquez pitch. The story noted that Vazquez, who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2011, was consistently throwing 94 m.p.h. on Wednesday. His team's general manager, Alex Cora, noted that Vazquez hit 95 on his 83rd pitch of the night.

    Vazquez, Nationals have mutual interest

    MLB.com reports that the Nationals have been scouting starting pitcher Javier Vazquez in the Puerto Rico Winter League, as they are looking for pitching depth. Vazquez, who sat out the 2012 season, is considering a comeback, and he wrote in a recent email to MLB.com, "If I do come back, Washington is definitely a place I would consider." Vazquez has also been scouted by the Red Sox, Rays and Royals, according to WEEI.com.
