  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Back in action Saturday

Wells (illness) will start at catcher and bat third Saturday against the Rays.

Wells missed Friday's contest due to a bout of food poisoning, but he's now feeling better and will return behind the plate to form a battery with Carlos Carrasco on Saturday. The 25-year-old backstop has gone 2-for-16 with a homer and two RBI across his last five games.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Returns to lineup Saturday

Dingler is starting at catcher and batting fifth in Saturday's game against the Royals.

Dingler got a breather Friday with Tomas Nido picking up the start, but the former will return to the lineup Saturday. Dingler is Detroit's top catching option at the moment with Jake Rogers (oblique) on the injured list, and he's done well with the expanded opportunity, posting a .306 average and .830 OPS across 14 games.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

    Rangers' Jonah Heim: Idle Saturday

Heim isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Heim will get a day off Saturday after going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts during Friday's series opener. Kyle Higashioka will do the catching instead for Nathan Eovaldi.

  • Miguel Amaya C | CHC

Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Enters lineup Saturday

Amaya is starting at catcher and batting eighth in Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Carson Kelly belted two home runs during a wild 13-11 win Friday, but he'll get a breather Saturday, which paves the way for Amaya to start behind the plate. Kelly is off to a blazing hot start with a 1.675 OPS through 11 games, so his role figures to grow in the near term, though Amaya will still work in frequently. He's not matching Kelly's production, but Amaya has been solid with a .283 batting average and .770 OPS through 13 games.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Riding pine Saturday

Pages is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Pages will grab a seat on the bench Saturday after going 1-for-7 with an RBI and five strikeouts across the first two games of the series. Yohel Pozo will fill in for him behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Not starting Saturday

Kelly is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Kelly will get a breather Saturday after belting two home runs and driving in five runs while scoring an additional run himself in Friday's win. Miguel Amaya will catch for Ben Brown instead and bat eighth.

  • Tomas Nido C | DET

Tigers' Tomas Nido: Records three hits in win

Nido went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 7-3 win over the Royals.

Making just his third appearance for Detroit, Nido posted his first multi-hit effort of the season. The veteran catcher is getting a chance to back up Dillon Dingler while Jake Rogers (oblique) is on the 10-day injured list. Once Rogers is able to return, Nido figures to return to Triple-A Toledo, and he has limited fantasy appeal in the meantime.

  • Bo Naylor C | CLE

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Slugs second homer

Naylor went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and three RBI in Friday's 10-7 win over the Pirates.

The 25-year-old backstop took Carmen Mlodzinski deep for a solo shot in the third inning before bringing home two more runs in the next frame with a double. Naylor has had a sluggish start to the season overall, but over his last seven games he's batting .318 (7-for-22) with both his long balls on the year, as well as five runs, five RBI and a sharp 4:3 BB:K.

  • Red Sox's Carlos Narvaez: Productive night at plate in rout

Narvaez went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win over the White Sox.

Narvaez lined his fourth double already this season in the fourth inning, later crossing the plate on Ceddanne Rafaela's two-run blast. Top backstop Connor Wong is still recovering from a fractured finger, so Narvaez should at least remain Boston's primary catcher for the time being. Narvaez is slashing just .208/.269/.354 with one home run, five RBI and six runs scored over 52 plate appearances (14 games), and his fantasy appeal will remain restricted by his consistent placement near the bottom of Boston's batting order.

  • Carson Kelly C | CHC

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Goes deep twice Friday

Kelly went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs, three total runs scored and five RBI in Friday's 13-11 win over the Diamondbacks.

Kelly had a monster game, going deep in the second inning with a runner on and then again in the eighth with three runners on. The veteran catcher now has six home runs and an absurd 1.675 OPS for the season. Kelly has seen his role grow due to the hot start, though Miguel Amaya is still seeing plenty of playing time as well.
