  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Gets fifth win of season

Greinke (5-4) picked up the win against the Rockies on Friday, giving up four runs (three earned) on eight hits over 5.2 innings, striking out five and walking two as the Diamondbacks got a 9-4 victory.

It wasn't Greinke's sharpest outing, but he still ended up with a respectable final line, missing a quality start by one-third of an inning on his way to bagging his fifth victory of the season. He now has a 3.53 and a 1.10 WHIP through 79 innings, and his 83:13 K:BB is fantastic, so Greinke is showing he can still provide excellent fantasy value in his age-34 season, even if he's not the lights-out force on the mound he once was.

  • Rockies' German Marquez: Falls to 4-6

Marquez (4-6) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Friday, giving up five earned runs on six hits over four innings, striking out four and walking one as the Rockies fell 9-4.

Marquez had put together a solid run of three consecutive starts that saw him give up just four earned runs over 19 innings with a 19:7 K:BB from May 15-27, but he's given up nine earned over his two starts and 10 innings since, bringing his ERA up to 4.79 and his WHIP to 1.48 on the season. He has a few solid stat lines to his name over his first 13 starts, and his 66 strikeouts over his 67.2 innings are a respectable total, but Marquez has been too erratic to this point in the season for him to be deployed with much confidence for fantasy purposes.

  • Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Surrenders 10 runs

Velasquez (4-7) allowed 10 runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out four across 3.2 innings as he took the loss during Friday's matchup against Milwaukee.

Velasquez's 13th start didn't last long, as he gave up three runs in the first inning, followed by five more in the fourth. After a disastrous outing, his ERA rose from 3.82 to 4.95. He's accrued a 1.38 WHIP with an 83:24 K:BB over 67.1 innings this season. Prior to Friday's outing, he hadn't allowed more than three runs in any of his past six starts.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Leaves with injury

Buehler exited Friday's game against the Braves with an apparent injury, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Buehler made it through 5.1 innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out four before being lifted from the game. The trainer came out to check on Buehler in the sixth, and it was determined that he couldn't continue. After the game, the Dodgers announced he's dealing with rib soreness, and it's unclear whether he'll make his next scheduled start. Buehler took a line drive to his ribs during his outing against the Rockies on May 21 but didn't miss any time due to the incident.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Dealing with shoulder inflammation

After further evaluation, the Nationals have determined that Strasburg has right shoulder inflammation, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.

Strasburg will undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the severity of the injury. The timetable for his return will remain unclear until the results of the test come back.

  • Daniel Corcino SP | LAD

Dodgers' Daniel Corcino: Set to join taxi squad

Corcino was called up to the big leagues for Friday's matchup against the Braves, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.

Corcino has made four starts at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, posting an impressive 1.95 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with a 34:15 K:BB. He figures to make his big-league debut out of the bullpen during Friday's tilt.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Continues to progress

Manager Dave Roberts stated Friday that Kershaw (back) is symptom-free, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Roberts noted that Kershaw is moving in the right direction, and although he could remain on the disabled list until after the All-Star Game, it's good news that the left-hander isn't experiencing any pain. Expect more updates on Kershaw as he continues to progress.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Could return shortly

Maeda (hip) is aiming to return from the disabled list sometime next week, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Maeda was initially hoping for a weekend activation, but the Dodgers don't believe he's ready just yet, as he wasn't listed among the probable starters against Atlanta. He was able to throw a solid bullpen session Friday, and if all goes well, he figures to be activated within the next week.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Leaves start early

Strasburg exited Friday's game against the Giants early with an apparent injury, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.

Strasburg was seen trying to stretch out his shoulder between batters, per Janes, so the issue appeared to be bothering him prior to leaving the game. His day was over after surrendering three runs on five hits while striking out two across two innings. More news on Strasburg's status should be released after further evaluation.

  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Starts to throw

Teheran (thumb) was able to begin throwing Friday, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Teheran landed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with a right thumb bruise, although it's positive news that he's already started to throw. If all goes well, he'll likely be ready to come off the DL after the minimum 10 days.
