  • Pete Alonso 1B | BAL

Mets' Pete Alonso: Opting out of contract

Alonso said after Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Marlins that he plans to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract and become a free agent this offseason, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Alonso signed a two-year, $54 million contract with the Mets in February, which included an opt out after the 2025 season. For the second season in a row, Alonso played in all 162 games for the Mets, batting .272 with 38 home runs, 126 RBI, 87 runs scored and one stolen base. The slugger will now enter free agency with plenty of interested suitors for his talents, though a return to the Mets could remain a possibility.

  • Braves' Ronald Acuna: Homers early in win

Acuna went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Pirates.

Acuna had a total of 21 homers for the season, including six over his last 16 games. In that span, he hit .373 (22-for-59) and added 10 RBI and three stolen bases. The star outfielder concludes 2025 at a .290/.417/.518 slash line, 42 RBI, 74 runs scored and nine steals across 95 contests in another campaign disrupted by injuries.

  • Braves' Raisel Iglesias: Closes out 29th save

Iglesias struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Pirates.

Iglesias was a little rough coming out of the All-Star break, but over his last 27 appearances of the year, he allowed just one run with a 27:6 K:BB over 26.2 innings. He also earned 18 of 29 saves for the year in that stretch, which reasserted his status as a high-end closer. The right-hander also posted a 3.21 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 73:16 K:BB through 67.1 innings overall.

  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

Braves' Chris Sale: Sharp in bulk relief

Sale (7-5) allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out nine over 5.2 innings to earn the win over the Pirates on Sunday.

Charlie Morton got his Atlanta curtain call with 1.1 scoreless innings to open the game before Sale took over. Sale was pitching with a lead the entire time, and the lone run he allowed was on a Joey Bart single in the sixth inning. Sale gave up just 11 runs over 36.1 innings across six appearances after returning from a fractured ribcage. For the season, the southpaw ended up with a 2.58 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 165:32 K:BB through 125.2 innings across 21 appearances (20 starts), showing that he can still pitch at an elite level at age 36. Atlanta has an $18 million team option to keep Sale around for the 2026 season if it so chooses.

  • Johan Oviedo SP | BOS

Pirates' Johan Oviedo: Fine effort in loss

Oviedo (2-1) allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings to take the loss Sunday versus Atlanta.

Oviedo gave up a two-run home run to Ronald Acuna in the first inning, and that was ultimately enough to prevent the right-hander from staying undefeated this season. He was rarely bad but also failed to stand out in his nine starts, walking exactly three batters on seven occasions while failing to complete six frames in any outing. Overall, he finished with a 3.57 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 42:23 K:BB over 40.1 innings, which is a fine performance after returning from a December 2023 Tommy John surgery.

  • Cardinals' Victor Scott: Logs steal in loss

Scott went 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Cubs.

Scott finished the season 10th in the majors in steals after picking up his 34th pilfer of the year Sunday. This was also his first multi-hit effort since July 11 -- the outfielder hit a pathetic .171 after the All-Star break, dropping his season average to .216 across 138 games. Scott added a .601 OPS, five home runs, 37 RBI, 54 runs scored, 15 doubles and one triple in 463 plate appearances in his first full major-league season.

  • Kyle Leahy RP | STL

Cardinals' Kyle Leahy: Covers three innings

Leahy allowed a hit and struck out one without walking a batter over three scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Cubs on Sunday.

Leahy started the bullpen game and had the most innings pitched of the five pitchers the Cardinals used in their season finale. This was a fine first career start, and the right-hander ended the season on a seven-inning scoreless streak. Overall, he pitched to a 3.07 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 80:28 K:BB across 88 innings across 62 appearances, adding a 4-2 record, one save, 18 holds and four blown saves as a multi-inning reliever. He could be a contender for the rotation in 2026, but Leahy hasn't regularly worked as a starter since 2022.

  • Seiya Suzuki RF | CHC

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Stays hot with solo shot

Suzuki went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Cardinals.

Suzuki ended the regular season by going deep in four straight games, totaling five homers in that span. He also hit safely in seven consecutive contests, going 8-for-26 (.308) in that span. He traded some contact for power this year, finishing the regular season with a .245/.326/.478 slash line, 32 homers, 103 RBI, 75 runs scored and five stolen bases over 151 contests.

  • Jordan Wicks SP | CHC

Cubs' Jordan Wicks: Secures three-inning save

Wicks allowed three hits and struck out four without walking a batter over three shutout innings to earn the save in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Cardinals.

Wicks' long-relief performance ensured the Cubs' bullpen would be well-rested heading into the wild-card round. Wicks has kept runs off the board in three of his last four outings dating back to Aug. 26, though his struggles in limited action earlier in the year led to him finishing the regular season with a 6.28 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB over 14.1 innings across eight relief appearances. It's unclear if he'll earn a spot on the Cubs' wild-card roster.

  • Javier Assad RP | CHC

Cubs' Javier Assad: Nabs fourth win

Assad (4-1) allowed three hits and one walk while striking out six over 5.1 shutout innings to earn the win Sunday over the Cardinals.

Assad closed out the regular season by winning four of his last five outings, one of which was a relief appearance. In that span, he gave up nine runs across 23 innings with a 14:9 K:BB. The right-hander has a 3.65 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 23:12 K:BB across 37 innings through eight appearances (seven starts) this season. His 79-pitch outing Sunday will likely keep him off the Cubs' roster for the wild-card round versus the Padres, but Assad could be included in the bullpen if Chicago advances to the NLDS.
